Invictus 2012 Wins National Yearbook Program of Excellence Award
Congratulations to the St. Peter Chanel yearbook staff and Mrs. Jenny Miroglotta for achieving the National Yearbook Program of Excellence designation for the 2011-2012 school year! St. Peter Chanel was one of only 5 schools who received the award in the entire state! In recognition of their excellent work, the yearbook staff received a personalized plaque and a large banner signifying this honor. The banner will be displayed in the main hallway next to our publicity bulletin board. Congratulations on a job well done!
St. Peter Chanel Recycles!
Chanel’s student newspaper, The Flame, recycles! The Flame is part of Cartridge World’s Recycling Program, You can help The Flame by bringing your empty ink jet and laser cartridges to the main office for recycling. Recycling raises funds for the newspaper and helps teach our students valuable lessons about the variety of materials that can be recycled as well as help them develop life-long patterns of recycling. Typically, the most popular laser and inkjet cartridges that provide the most value are HP, Canon, Sharp, and Lexmark. Start saving your cartridges today. St. Peter Chanel H.S. National Honor Society, along with our staff and students, is continuing the paper and cardboard recycling program started in 2011. Each month, our recycling saves many trees, yards of cubic space in the landfill, thousands of gallons of water and thousands of kilowatts of electricity. Recycling impacts the environment in these positive ways!
Did you know that almost half of the paper being used in the United States is being recycled into new paper products instead of being sent to the landfill in 2012? St. Peter Chanel H.S. National Honor Society, along with our staff and students, is continuing the paper and cardboard recycling program started in 2011. Parents and community members may help by bringing newspaper, magazines, phone books, broken down cardboard boxes (to save space in the bins) and other paper material to either the recycling bin located on the gym side of the parking lot or the one in the back parking lot behind the school. Inside the school, place items in the recycling bins located in the offices and classrooms. NHS members and other student volunteers empty the classroom and office bins in the ice room located in the basement. Our wonderful maintenance staff brings the recycling out to the bins and the material is picked up on a regular basis.
We look forward to your enthusiastic participation in these earth friendly projects!
